The 15 yard is the size we recommend when a 10 yard is cutting it close but a 20 yard feels like overkill. It is 16 feet long, 7.5 feet wide, and 4.5 feet tall — a foot taller on the walls than the 10 yard, which adds real capacity without adding much to the footprint on your driveway. We deliver it the same way we deliver every size: on our own trucks, out of our own yard on County Road 166, with one crew handling both drop-off and pickup so nothing gets lost between a broker and a hauler.

This is a common size for kitchen remodels, single-layer asphalt shingle roof jobs, and general contractor swap-outs where a crew wants a container that will hold a week or two of steady debris without needing an early pickup. It holds roughly five to six pickup truck loads, which is enough to clear most single-room-plus projects in one container.

If you have already looked at our 10 yard and worried it might run out of room mid-project, the 15 yard is usually the answer — it is the middle ground we recommend most often for McKinney remodel jobs that touch more than one surface in a room but stop short of a whole-house gut. Not sure which one fits? Our sizing guide walks through the decision, or just call and describe the project.

Right job, right box

What this size is built for

Ideal projects

  • Full kitchen remodel — cabinets, countertops, flooring, drywall
  • Single-layer asphalt shingle roof tear-off (up to roughly 2,000 sq ft)
  • Bathroom remodel combined with flooring replacement in an adjoining room
  • Small addition or sunroom framing debris
  • Whole-condo or townhome decluttering for a move
  • Moderate driveway or patio concrete removal

Pick a different size if…

  • A quick single-room cleanout with light debris — a 10 yard saves you space and cost
  • Two-layer shingle tear-offs on a full-size roof — weight usually calls for a 20 yard
  • Whole-house flooring replacement across a full home — step up to a 20 yard
  • New-construction framing scrap or a full home addition — go 30 yard or larger
  • Whole-house cleanouts ahead of a listing or estate sale

Not sure? Call (469) 353-7988 and describe what you are looking at. We would rather sell you a smaller container than have you pay for space you do not use.

The projects that fit a 15 yard best

Kitchen remodels are the classic 15 yard job — cabinets, countertops, old flooring, and drywall from a standard McKinney kitchen fit comfortably. It is also our default recommendation for a single-layer asphalt shingle tear-off on an average-size roof, which is common work across both the newer subdivisions and the older roofs around downtown. Contractors doing a bathroom-plus-flooring combo, or a small addition's framing debris, land here too.

We also see a lot of 15 yard rentals from homeowners in Adriatica Village and the tighter streets near downtown who want more capacity than a 10 yard but do not have room, or need, for a full 20 yard footprint. The extra height over the 10 yard adds meaningful volume without changing how much driveway space it takes up.

Roofing and weight — what a single layer actually weighs

A single-layer asphalt shingle tear-off on a roof up to roughly 2,000 square feet generally fits a 15 yard's weight allowance without issue. Two layers of shingles roughly double the weight per square foot, so a tear-off on a two-layer roof — common on some of the older homes near the square — often needs to move up to a 20 yard even though the volume looks similar. Tell us how many layers are coming off when you book so the weight allowance matches the job.

Same logic applies to a driveway or slab concrete removal: a 15 yard handles a moderate concrete job, but if you are looking at a full driveway replacement, we will usually walk you through whether a 10 yard (lower weight allowance, but often enough by itself) or a 20 yard makes more sense once we know the square footage and thickness.

Placement across McKinney's neighborhoods

Because McKinney sits on flat blackland prairie, ground grade is rarely a factor in where we can set a container — the limiting factor is almost always clearance, not slope. A 15 yard needs about the same driveway footprint as a 10 yard, just slightly taller walls, so it fits the same driveways across Stonebridge Ranch, Craig Ranch, and the historic-home lots downtown without a problem.

If the container needs to sit in the street rather than the driveway — tight lots downtown sometimes require this — check the City of McKinney permits page for right-of-way placement rules, or call us and we can tell you whether your address is likely to need one based on jobs we have run nearby.

Because we run our own trucks out of our yard on County Road 166 rather than dispatching through a broker, the crew that drops your container is the same crew we send back to pick it up — scheduling a swap or an early pickup is one phone call, not a support ticket routed to someone else's hauler.

Answers

15 Yard Dumpster — frequently asked questions

Is a 15 yard dumpster big enough for a full kitchen remodel?

For a standard-size McKinney kitchen — cabinets, countertops, old flooring, and drywall — yes, a 15 yard is our most common recommendation. If the remodel includes opening up a wall, adding cabinetry beyond the kitchen footprint, or you are combining it with another room, ask us about sizing up to a 20.

How is a 15 yard different from a 10 yard if the driveway footprint is almost the same?

Both are 7.5 feet wide, but the 15 yard's walls are a foot taller (4.5 ft versus 3.5 ft), which adds meaningful volume without needing more driveway length. It is the easiest upgrade when a 10 yard feels one load too small.

Can I put a full roof tear-off in a 15 yard?

A single-layer asphalt shingle roof up to roughly 2,000 square feet usually fits within the included weight allowance. Two-layer tear-offs weigh close to double per square foot, so those jobs typically need a 20 yard — tell us the layer count when you book and we will size it correctly.

Do you deliver 15 yard dumpsters same-day in McKinney?

Most of the time, yes, if you call before early afternoon. We run our own trucks out of our County Road 166 yard, so we are not waiting on a third-party hauler to schedule your delivery window.

What is included in the rental period?

A standard 7-day rental with delivery, pickup, and disposal in one flat rate — no dollar surprises added later. Need more time? Call (469) 353-7988 and we will extend it; most contractor jobs on this size run one to two weeks.
